My research investigates the diversity of blood parasite communities across populations of Zosterops and Myzomela. I aim to determine whether increasing host genetic divergence (particularly at innate immune loci) increases parasite community dissimilarity between populations of these two co-occurring genera. To achieve this, I am adapting a novel bioinformatic pipeline to enable both host and parasite diversity to be characterised simultaneously from existing host whole-genome sequence data.
