I am particularly interested in understanding how climate change affects phenology and trophic interactions as many species rely on environmental cues to synchronise key life history events with resource availability. My MBiol project explores whether phenotypic plasticity can help organisms adapt to increasing climate variability. Specifically, I am investigating temperature-related plasticity in the life cycle scheduling of the Winter Moth (Operophtera brumata) using novel experimental manipulations. By examining plasticity across different life cycle stages and potential carryover effects between stages, I aim to provide deeper insight into how Winter Moths might respond to environmental change in situ.
